How helpful was your analysis research on your chosen theme?

The textual analysis I completed on the movie ' Death Note' was very helpful because the research I completed allowed me to effectively understand the different angles & shots in the filming and therefore this has helped me in how  I will complete my own movie. In the beginning, it showed an establishing shot of the school, somewhere in Seattle due to the building shown and this has allowed me to research the definition of 'establishing shot', and the one shown from Death Note, has given me a clear understanding how to complete one and therefore, this will allow me to show the audience, where somewhere and sometimes the rest of the movie might take place.
The textual analysis allowed me to build upon the different ideas of the way to build up sound, the different type of sounds; Death Note - the sound was non diegetic, meaning the sound from the movie wasn't actually created by what was recorded and generally non diegetic sound has sound effects just for the dramatic effect. However, most of the sounds are normally created separately in a recording studio, mainly by different objects and then are edited in.

One of the shots in the movie was shown in the very beginning. It showed an establishing shot of the school, somewhere in Seattle due to the building shown and this has allowed me to research the definition of 'establishing shot', and the one shown from Death Note, has given me a clear understanding how to complete one and therefore, this will allow me to show the audience, where somewhere and sometimes the rest of the movie might take place.
Other shots like close ups, conventional shots, mid shots and extreme close ups have all been shown in the Death Note and my textual analysis upon these different shots have allowed me to understand the different type of shots; to focus on a production or something which is generally related to the movie for a certain purpose or effect, and this will allow me to use these different type of shots in my theme of my movie.

A sci-fi, time travel, where someone lost a watch and they wake up in a random area, I can use an extreme close up and pull it out to pinpoint the audience view on the actor and what the character is dressed in, as if they're from the 19th century, but has ended up in the 21 century. The close up shot can be used to focus the audience view on the missing 'watch', which is partly the main goal of the movie; to find the watch, so he can time travel back to his century. For example, in Death Note; they're close up was towards a ‘Detention Sign’. After the close up, the extreme close up pulls out from an apple to the detention room surrounding the character, to show where the character's next scene takes place.
A lot of this can also mainly used to build up tension in the movie, to create more entertainment for the audience and generally leaves them on a cliff, to leave the audience wanting more and therefore, they continue to watch more to find out what happens in the end. This sort of aspect will allow me to build up the tension in my movie to an extent if they character will find his watch and if in the end he does, will he actually return to his century or to another... Leaving the audience on a cliff hanger, will allow us to ensure they want to come back, because they enjoy the movie and they really want to find out what will happen.

How helpful / successful was the pre-production process?

The pre-production i believe was actually very helpful because it allowed each member of our group to understand each different step in how we're going to actually complete our movie. We wrote out what type of genre we're going for, the title we need to make to fit the genre and the synopsis we had to write too and therefore, this allowed our group to also understand the point and what is happening in our movie. We can keep track of our budget, equipment , props, locations, actors, duration, ethical issues, and the different shots needed to make . This will allow our group to be accurate and try work well together as a group because we all know the criteria of the movie and everything needed to make the movie and it can also allow us to be on time in making our movie.

How successful was your production (filming)?

For an induction task i would say the filming was decent but i do believe it could have been 100% better but in this case it was actually very successful and well filmed because we used many different shots; from closes ups to 1st person view. We had hand held shots, different angle shots and normal tripod shots and all of this gave the movie a really good effect and came across really good in the end. We also had shots like an establishing shot in the very beginning to show the audience, where the next scene will mainly take place and we also had a few over shoulder shots too. Overall, i believe our filming was very good because this is just the beginning task and we had included every shot possible and even i believe an extra shot (1st person view) and the movie wasn't all over the place nor shaky, it was very neat and steady.

Discuss strengths and weaknesses of you’re A-B Story making reference to the codes and conventions of other factual programmes you have seen.

The strengths of my movie are the filming because we followed shots from different type of movie like Death Note, shots like establishing shots and extreme close ups and this allowed our movie to follow the success criteria of the different type of shots because we watched a movie with these types of shots and also shots like over shoulder shots. We saw how it was performed in Death Note and we produced some over shoulder shots and it really gives the movie a better effect. The weaknesses of our story would be the audio because our problem with the exportation failing, it didn't create that creepy, build up tensions in the shots like it did in the movie Death Note.

  Audience feedback

T      The feedback we got was that everything was very good from filming to editing but the only problem was the audio because due to an error in the exportation of the movie in premiere pro, the audio had been deleted and you could only hear two tracks towards the end but they wish to review the movie again with audio.

What improvements could you have made?

The audio could have been improved very easily but in my opinion i believe some of the editing too could have been improved, things such as; effects and scene cuts and making sure the scenes cuts don't just randomly jump, make it look normal by editing possible black screens or something else.
