Pre- Prodcution, Production & Post- production

Media processes

Pick a media sector and a product (e.g. Newspaper, film or a radio show). Game: Minecraft

Pre-production (planning)

You will now write a checklist for each process for this particular product.

Production

Text Box: To make the game Minecraft we need a lot of the following; Script/main objection, character, drawing & design, animations, storyline (dialogue), age range, voice overs/sound effects (casting), Editor, development, animating sequences, coders, screen play, locations, budget, a crew and a whole production team. Risk assessment (treatment), textual analysis, location,
Firstly we would start off from the script and our main objection for this game. We what a plan of what our game does; the game is so you (the player) have to gather material to live and build yourself up to become strong enough to beat the ‘ender dragon’ . So we want a storyboard, our storyboard would be the player has to mine certain things, start from getting wood, creating tools, mining to find ores (iron, diamond) to create better tools and create armour… gather blocks to create your own home, or build anything you can imagine (since everything in made in pixels) and Minecraft’s general concept which makes it special is that everything is made out of blocks. This would all be considered as the dialogue and storyline too and this can be considered as the ‘storyboard’ for our step by step action, for what will happen in this game and how. We would also allow this to be described as the textual analysis for our game.
We would need a call sheet so we can directly understand each part for what we need to complete the game; from equipment to budget prices and it would allow us to keep on track with our timing in getting everything organised to effectively create this game.
Over time this would be developed.
Text Box: Advertisement for the game across all the different media sectors/platforms.
There’s a sequel (story mode)
Marketing.
A movie based off the game. They made a sequal game like a movie but a story mode.
Costumes or props. Objects of a pickaxe and toys etc.
Books or guides (how to create building or become a better ‘mine crafter’).
Merchandise for the game.
Editing – After the whole understanding and idea and getting everything down, it’s time to edit the animation and the game, to make the game and design flow and look professional. And then we would have like visual effects.
Coding. – A coder to create the game through the technical concept and finally construct the game now in the very end. This will take a lot of time since this is the main part as it takes a lot to get code write to make the characters actually move and do what your storyline is (mine, craft, build) and just for the general concept of the character to even move a few steps and allow the gamer to move efficiently to the character need, things like around the whole location from their very own hands (using a mouse and keyboard to change scene and move about).
Voice overs and sound effects and this would either done by instruments or casting characters to make a voice for the characters and the different sounds for when ‘mining’, ‘crafting’ and ‘building’. Sound like – non diegetic and diegetic sounds are recording in a recording booth. Audio (sound effects).
Age range and rating. 3+
CGI.
Text Box: To produce this we would need certain pre productions to complete we would need the following; we would need someone who specialises in drawing & design to create the games design and character, animations to actually construct the movement of the game. Producing and directing would be needed but in this concept it would be development of the game idea and design, colour, and animations. We would also need to record for different soundtracks to make the game more appealing and would make the game more interesting and fun to play I it had music in the background or start up. Also voice overs and sound effects.
