Representation – people, places, events, values
Places: The places vary throughout the whole series but in the very first episode its based in America, DC and The Flash works in a police department and his home who he shares with his neighbour because his dad got arrested and his mother died when he was young, ever since then his neighbours; Joe west and his daughter Iris west looked after him and before he gets hit by the lighting, these are the main settings for the first episode. But, after he was hit with the lighting strike he was sent to a special scientific laboratory, called; 'Star Labs' and they helped him become 'The Flash', who he eventually started working with in disguise.
People: Barry Allen being The Flash (fastest man alive)
It starts of form the very beginning with the theme intro which there is a voice over of The Flash explaining who he is, what he does, how he say his parents die by something impossible as a child but then an accident occurred which made him the impossible. In private he’s the flash but to the public he’s an ordinary forensic scientist. His main goal is to find who killed his mother and get justice for his father. He just helps the public and fights crime. However, he ends up living with his neighbour and his fathers best friend Joe West and his daughter: Iris west... because when his mother died the police believed it was his father and they arrested his father.

Events: The main events in the first episode is when we are taught what happened to his mother when he was younger and why he started living with his neighbour; Joe West and their daughter Iris West. We are taught a horrible accident happened to his mother and she was killed in their own home by something abnormal and his father got arrested for it.
Then the second event being that when he was hit by lighting and actually turned into 'The Flash' but was sent to a special scientist laboratory, with doctors who eventually they worked together and the science lab ' star labs ', helped him with becoming 'The Flash'.

Comments

  1. A decent start on analysing narrative. I'd also like you to look at genre form and conventions, and discuss representation in more depth. Use the structure on the assignment brief. Vanessa
